When Ada Lovelace wrote her algorithm for Charles Babbage’s “Analytical Engine,” did she realize the implications to future generations? Did she have an inkling that historians would go on to call her algorithm “the world’s first computer program” and start referring to her as the “mother of modern computing”? Ada Lovelace is one of the most consequential mathematical minds, and without her the world we live in would be a much different place. Despite her amazing contributions, she still doesn’t get enough credit, although that’s changing thanks in part to authors like Rachel Ignotofsky and her book Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World. These empowering Ada Lovelace Crew Socks were made in collaboration with her.
